The epicenter of the labor movement resurgence and citizen uprisings in America started in Madison, Wisconsin. Hundreds of thousands of ordinary citizens descended on the Capitol City in protest of Governor Scott Walker's radical political agenda beginning in February, 2011. As a freelance photographer, Joe Lynde chronicled these protests with images of parades, rallies, organized stage events, sleep-ins, night vigils, and much more. The groundswell that started it all began at the Wisconsin State Capital. The images are “in your face” and the viewer can easily visualize an intimacy with the protesters and participants. This visual work of art is a true historical record from someone who was there, through it all.
